Industry Overview

Singapore's cosmetic products market is gradually expanding.   It attracts many great international make-up brands stand by to fight this“Beauty War”. Such as the internationally renowned brand M.A.C.,South Korea's top beauty brand Sulwhasoo,or a large-scale retail brand like Sephora, open-frame chain drugstores Watsons, Guardian, etc..One after another opened a flagship store in the mall.Although the overall economic environment in Singapore has slowed down, the beauty products market has shown a steady growth against the trend. Euromonitor International, an international marketing company, clearly pointed out in their survey that Singapore’s cosmetics and skin care products market reached S$1.57 billion (approximately US$1.16 billion) in 2016, and the predicted compound growth rate for the next five years will reach 5%.

1. Top10 Brand Volume Ranking

 

The Korean brand Mamonde (夢妝) was the highest volume brand in this week. It led all brands with 826 volumes, followed by Urban decay(475) the brand under L'Oréal Group, and the third was Benefit(313).In addition Kiehl’s(190) and Anna Sui(169) also had some performance.

 

 

2. Top10 Brand Volume Day Trend

 

We could find that Mamonde and Urban Decay ushered in peak volume on the 26th and 27th espectively, mainly due to successful awards activities for marketing on the “Nylon Singapore” facebook page. Kiehl’s and Benefit also had good performance in these time period. Then Anna Sui led on the 29th and 30th.

 

 

3. TOP10 Channel Volume Ranking

 

In terms of channels, the top three were Nylon Singapore (a magazine media since 1999 and mainly reported on popular culture, fashion, beauty, etc., with exposures in Japan, South Korea, Mexico and even Indonesia、Thailand), TODAY (One of the local mainstream newspaper media), ezbuySingapore (Singapore's large-scale shopping platform, can directly purchase from China, the United States, the local, South Korea or Taiwan).
